How La Cornue hoods perform
A typical Château hood is a four-speed unit moving roughly 600 CFM through a 6-inch duct, with dishwasher-safe baffle filters and three 20-watt halogen lamps lighting the cooktop. Baffle filtration captures grease while letting air flow freely, and the multi-speed blower lets you match extraction to whether you’re simmering on the French Top or searing over the lava-rock grill. As with the ranges, each hood is finished by hand by the Compagnons to the customer’s color and trim specification.
The CornuFé hood collections
The four CornuFé hood designs each strike a different visual note above the range. The Cascade presents a tapered, sweeping canopy; the Euclid leans into clean geometric lines; the Loge offers a more architectural, framed presence; and the Marquee makes a bold statement piece over the cooktop. All four are built to coordinate with a La Cornue range in the same enamel color and trim metal, and the dedicated CornuFé 90 and 110 hoods are scaled to match those ranges precisely. Choosing the right one is partly aesthetic and partly practical — canopy depth and width influence how effectively the hood captures rising steam and smoke, which matters most over a high-output rangetop.
Sizing and ventilation
For a hood to do its job, the airflow and duct need to match the cooking surface beneath it. A wide range with multiple high-BTU brass burners and a grill produces far more heat, grease, and steam than a compact cooktop, so the blower’s CFM and the duct diameter should be sized accordingly. La Cornue hoods are engineered for ducted operation through a 6-inch run to the exterior, which removes smoke and odors far more effectively than recirculating designs. Keeping the duct run as short and straight as possible, with minimal elbows, preserves the rated airflow and keeps the blower quiet.
