What we fix on La Cornue range hoods.
Blower won't start
The fan does not run on any speed. A failed start capacitor, a burned-out motor, a control switch fault, or a break in the motor wiring.
Weak suction
Airflow is poor despite a running blower. Saturated baffle filters, a clogged or collapsed 6" duct, a stuck damper, or a motor losing performance.
Noisy or rattling operation
Humming, rattling, or grinding while running. Worn motor bearings, a loose or grease-laden fan wheel, or a panel vibrating against the housing.
Speed stuck on one setting
The 4-speed control will not change speeds. A failed speed switch, a control-board relay fault, or a wiring break to the motor windings.
Remote unresponsive
On models with remote control the hood ignores commands. A dead remote battery, a failed receiver board, or a pairing/communication fault.
Halogen lights out
One or more of the 3×20W halogen lamps will not illuminate. A burned bulb, a heat-degraded socket, or a light-circuit fault on the control board.
Grease leaking from housing
Grease drips from the underside or seams. Baffle filters are saturated and overflowing, or the grease tray and channels need cleaning.
Hood won't power on
No lights and no fan on any control. No power at the supply, a tripped breaker, a failed transformer, or a dead control board.
Backdraft or stuck damper
Outside air enters when the hood is off, or exhaust is restricted when on. The duct backdraft damper flap is stuck open or closed and must be freed or replaced.
Blower vibration at high speed
The hood is quiet on low but vibrates hard on high or boost. Fan-wheel imbalance from grease buildup, or deteriorated motor-mount isolators.
Filter latch broken
A baffle filter will not seat or latch in place. A bent latch tab, a warped filter frame, or grease binding the filter to the housing rails.
Lingering cooking odor
Smells persist with the hood running. A duct leak, an undersized or collapsed duct run, or — on recirculating setups — a spent charcoal filter.
These are the most common issues — not an exhaustive list. Our technicians diagnose and repair any La Cornue range hood problem, including intermittent faults, unusual symptoms, and issues not listed here.
