What we fix on La Cornue cooktops.

/01

Single burner won't light

One gas zone fails while the rest spark normally. Clogged ports or orifice on that burner, a cracked electrode, or a misaligned burner cap breaking the spark gap.

/02

No burners spark

No zone produces a spark on ignition. A failed ignition module, a tripped spark switch, or a wiring fault feeding the electrode harness.

/03

Continuous clicking

The igniter clicks without stopping, even with knobs off. Moisture in an electrode, a cracked electrode boot, or a stuck spark switch shorting the module.

/04

Low or uneven flame

Flame is small or irregular at a steady setting. A partially clogged orifice or ports, low supply pressure, or an air-shutter set incorrectly for the fuel.

/05

Induction "U" pan-detect fault

A single induction zone flashes "U", meaning no pan or an incompatible pan is detected. If other zones work with the same pan, the zone coil or pan-detector sensor is at fault.

/06

Induction cut-out E2

Induction shows code E2 — the electronic unit is too hot or a pot has boiled dry. Check ventilation clearances; persistent E2 indicates a cooling-fan or sensor fault.

/07

U400 wiring fault

Induction displays U400 and shuts off after about one second, with the code remaining: the cooker is incorrectly connected. The supply wiring and connection must be corrected.

/08

Cracked induction glass

The ceramic-glass induction surface is cracked from impact or thermal stress. The glass top is replaced as an assembly; a cracked surface must not be used.

/09

French-top plate cracked or warped

The cast-iron French top (plaque coup de feu) cracks, warps, or rusts. Caused by thermal shock, standing water, or a lapsed seasoning routine; severe cases require plate replacement.

/10

Burner cap or grate corrosion

Brass burner caps or cast grates corrode or discolor. Aggressive cleaners, standing moisture, and missed maintenance; restored with correct care or replaced when pitted.

/11

Stiff burner knob

A gas valve knob is hard to turn or binds. Hardened grease in the valve, a dry valve stem, or a worn knob bezel rubbing the panel.

/12

Teppanyaki not heating

The electric teppanyaki module fails to reach temperature. A burned-out element, a failed thermostat, or a control connection fault on the module.

These are the most common issues — not an exhaustive list. Our technicians diagnose and repair any La Cornue cooktop problem, including intermittent faults, unusual symptoms, and issues not listed here.
