What we fix on La Cornue stoves.

/01

Burner won't ignite

Brass "flammes" burner clicks but will not light. Usually clogged burner ports, food debris over the orifice, moisture trapped after cleaning, or a worn spark electrode on the lit zone.

/02

Clicking igniter, no spark

Spark module clicks continuously without igniting any burner. Cracked or wet electrode, a failed ignition module, or a misaligned burner cap interrupting the spark gap.

/03

Moisture after cleaning

Burners fail to light after the cooktop is washed down. Water has entered the burner head, electrode boot, or valve. The assembly must be dried before the spark will jump.

/04

Weak or flickering flame

Flame is low, lifts off the burner, or flutters at a steady knob setting. Partially clogged ports or orifice, a kinked gas line, or low supply pressure to the rangetop.

/05

Yellow or orange flame

Flame burns yellow instead of crisp blue, leaving soot on cookware. Incorrect air-shutter setting, a dirty orifice, or an LP/NG conversion that was never completed correctly.

/06

Gas smell near the stove

Odor of gas at the valve manifold or supply connection. A loosened fitting, worn valve stem packing, or cracked flex connector. Stop using the appliance and request immediate service.

/07

Stiff or seized burner knob

Knob is hard to turn or sticks between settings. Hardened grease in the valve, a dry valve stem needing food-grade lubrication, or a worn knob bezel binding on the panel.

/08

Oven not heating

The vaulted oven stays cold while the rangetop works. Weak gas glow-bar igniter, a tripped hi-limit safety thermostat, a failed bake element (electric), or a stuck safety valve.

/09

Enamel chipping or crazing

Vitreous enamel on the body, doors, or trim chips or develops fine surface cracks. Impact damage or thermal stress; affected panels are replaced rather than refinished in place.

/10

Brass trim tarnishing

Polished or brushed brass burners, rails, and trim discolor or develop dark patches. Normal oxidation accelerated by heat and cleaning chemicals; restored with correct brass care, not abrasives.

/11

Hi-limit thermostat trip

Oven shuts off and a red indicator lights after a high-temperature cycle. The safety thermostat (part ref 06ELTS01) has tripped on overheat and must be reset or replaced.

/12

LP/NG conversion errors

Flame quality and burner performance are wrong after a fuel change. Incorrect orifices, an unadjusted air shutter, or a regulator not switched for the installed fuel type.

These are the most common issues — not an exhaustive list. Our technicians diagnose and repair any La Cornue stove problem, including intermittent faults, unusual symptoms, and issues not listed here.
